Kami Lester, originally from Halewood in the northwest of England, says that in hindsight, she was incredibly lucky. Thanks to the fact that her cancer was discovered at a relatively early stage, she is still alive. She doesn’t even want to think about what would have happened if she hadn’t had a mammogram in November 2021.

The 52-year-old woman recalls that she underwent the test preventively; she had had no previous symptoms; on the contrary, she felt great and was in excellent condition.

After the examination, the doctors invited her back to the hospital. The woman felt that something was wrong. During the examination, three lumps were found in her right breast. The patient recalls that the diagnosis and treatment unfolded like a “whirlwind”; everything happened so fast.

In February, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor, followed by radiotherapy, and over the next five years she will undergo therapies used for the treatment of hormone-dependent breast cancer.

“I am now focusing on restoring my physical health. I have started yoga and swimming,” says Kami. What are the symptoms of breast cancer?
